Stage 3: the toughest day in the saddle

Third, and by many named as the most demanding stage of Sudety MTB Challenge 2017. Uphill to and downhill from Borówkowa mountain, a descent along the Way of the Cross, and especially the super technical 25km single track on the Polish-Czech border, were the main dishes in the menu of the third day of the race.

“Dreamtrali”, “I love this kind of stuff”, “One of the best trails i have ever ridden”, “We still talk about that trail”, “Rocks, roots, super heavy s#%t” - this is how the border single track was commented by the participants.

Unlike in previous days, the weather was really kind to riders, who could enjoy the picturesque landscapes of the route leading from Stronie Śląskie to Bardo.

In Solo classification first spot for Dutchman Rudi Van Houts, who arrived at the finish line 6 minutes before the GC leader Erik Aagaard and 9 minutes ahead of Mariusz Marszałek. Yuri “Gagarin” Shkurenko was leading the stage for around 50km, but unfortunately broke the wheel.

In women competition first two spots for Poles: Monika Wrona and Marta Gogolewska and third for Vladi Pokobowa from Belgium.

The Team classification was once again won by the Russians from AEON - LOYALTY POINT RACING TEAM POWERED BY HOTEL ZAMEK RYN (Gordienko, Dianov), second for the Italians of CINGOLANI MASTER TEAM (Paci, Vitali), who also took the win in MASTERS categorty,  and third for the Polish side COLEX RACING TEAM (Urbaniak, Czerniak). MIX classification for the Latvians from VELOPROFS.LV (Slaidinis, Ozola).

We’re half way through the race and the riders are starting a countdown to the finish line. Tomorrow the shortest stage of Sudety MTB Challenge. But it doesn’t mean that it’s going to be easy!
