TIME TO START:

Stage 3: A hard day in the office

On the fourth day of Sudety MTB Challenge the riders were to leave Stronie Śląskie and head to Bardo. Over 68 km of distance, 2200 m of climbing and the main challenges of the day: almost 20km long narrow path full of roots and the magical descent from the Borówkowa pass. The one that surely deserves a 5 star category.

The third stage, first finishing outside Stronie Śląskie took its toll in the TEAM GC as Urbaniak and Czerniak took the first stage win in the race. Team MTB Arnheim tried to keep up until the very gnarly first uphill where they had to surrender and see their chances vanishing right after their hit the following unyielding downhill part.

Molenaar [Team MTB Arnheim]: Well, honestly we don’t have any strategy or target. Our motto goes along the line of: Keep it the maximum and see how we end up. We of course are very happy about the GC and want to keep our position but that’s not the ultimate target. Hence, tomorrow when we line up for another stage we will stick to this

Third goes to ROMET who keeps his GC position, despite leading the teams race through the midpoint of the race. Third consecutively unlucky day for the Polish Team EUROBIKE MTB KACZMAREK ELECTRIC/VIMAR SPECIALIZED (Mirosław and Kaiser). Snapped chainring was on the menu which made them losing a massive amount of time and eventually meant abandoning the race.

The Portuguese (BTT LOULE) mixed pair seem to ride in seventh heaven. They seemingly profit on their mental attitude that doesn’t accept any barriers. And they spirits doesn’t show any sign of vanishing.

In SOLO MAN Michal Kaněra made sure again that his penalty gets cannibalized down to a bare minimum. He rode a strong stage in doing so, there is only 3 min to be made up and the GC is his. Here's what he said on the finish line:

Another considerable time has been made up, I must be happy. Frankly I didn’t expect it to be so good rolling. 3 min or thereabout is the difference I have to diminish. Now I will need to be very cautious not to lose this precious time through silly mechanicals, that’s what keeps me bothering, but anything else is all OK. The legs keep doing what I the head orders to do. I thought I will be struggling on the border ridge today, but lo and behold it went quite smoothly. I am confident, tomorrow I can take over the GC.

Llordella came in briefly thereafter. He hoped to make up time in the gnarly rock gardens. But Kanera kept the Spaniards hopes and chances at bay.Third on the podium had been taken by Allemand. The Frenchman was again very consistent and made sure the elastic doesn’t get snapped.

In the women category first place for the German Ivonne Kraft, as the leader - Melanie Spat, lost time due to puncture. Third spot for Poland's Magda Hałajczak.

The current GC leader - Spath:
I flatted today, but not a big deal as I caught up within no time. As usual, side-cuts are in this race pretty common. As hard as you my try to avoid all those sharp rocks, sometimes a puncture is inevitable. But I keep my GC position and want do so going forward. Based on how I feel, it’s doable.
