Second stage of Sudety MTB Challenge was classic loop around Stronie Śląskie, well known from previous years. Long, demanding climbs, requiring a lot of strength endurance, fast Beskidy-like descents, steep uphill and downhill sections and very substantial border trail with everything what Sudety offers at their best.
Despite heavy rainfalls at night and day before, the border trail was completely ridable and let the riders to enjoy every meter of 30-cm-wide track full of roots, steps, narrow curves, completed with mind-blowing descents. And that was just an aperitif before tomorrow, when similar trail will follow through 30km.
Today’s scenario came strait from scary movies. Foggy, cold morning, long climbs in the shade enveloping fire roads on a slope of Śnieżnik, rain drops felt in air and awesome sunshine on finish line.
In individual classification again first spot went to Danish Erik Aagard with his 6minutes advantage on Dariusz Poroś, and 10 minutes on Swiss Nicolas Jaszkowski.
No surprise in team classement – Igor Gordienko and Andrey Dianov took top spot again.
Tomorrow for many will be crème de la crème of the race.
