Yesterday, precisely after the decoration ceremony, dark clouds covered the sky above Stronie Śląskie. This did not foreshadow anything good. Indeed we witnessed heavy rainfalls, which influenced the route of today's stage. Because of the conditions on the trail, we had to cut out a fragment in Śnieżnik area and a single track on Polish-Czech border. What's more the weather forecasts indicated solid showers during the stage, so the riders on the start line weren't in the best mood. Luckily the forecasts are only forecasts and the actual weather was much nicer in reality.
Dariusz Poroś put serious pressure on his rivals from the get-go. (MTB Votum Orbea Team Wrocław). He managed to make a few seconds gap, but his main rivals had him in sight. The leader decided to make another firm move on Puchaczówka pass. From here on his lead seemed more safe, but Steffen Langer (Mad East Callenge) and Robby De Bock (KMC Team) were not that far behind. One time Poroś's advantage grew, the other time it decreased. Eventually the time difference between him and second Langer on the finish line was only eleven seconds. It was a real battle royal between the Pole, German and Belgian.
In women competition Aneta Imielska (Mitsubishi Materials MTB Team) was once again the fastest rider gaining respectively 12 and 23 minutes over Marta Gogolewska and Kinga Wyrzucka.
In teams category Belgians from TNN Meets WMTB worked hard for a solid advantage over Polish Colex Racing Team and Austrian Nutrixxion Flachau.
Half distance win for Adam Ważny (Team TC) and Magda Szymańska (Trybik Nortwave Team – Trybiki 28).
Tomorrow a stage that may not seem like a big deal, but be sure, that the segments like the boarder trail and many other sections, gives riders goosebumps at the very thought of them. We pray for a good weather and many, many smiling faces on the finish line!
